Here's a summary of the thoughts and insights being passed around. It's so refreshing to hear the different ways leaders are seeking to be effective on their campus!
General Evangelistic Effectiveness
- "I love the exhortation to evaluate the ministry of the gospel in our own lives...& seek to communicate that with people." Dave Goffeney (click here to see his blog)
- "Post-modernism is speaking to the visual society also. How can we Evangelize in new ways. How could you take the 4 Spiritual Laws and put them to work in an art form" Ben Lemery (check out his blog here)
- The gospel really needs to be heard many times by an individual and applied in many different contexts (preaching, one-on-one discipleship, during conflict/crises).--Marc Madrigal
-
Take people on an A - Z scale in their process with coming to know Christ. "A" being not interested, no background, not understanding the gospel at all or rejecting it. "Z" being accepting Christ. I think CCC has typically been good at reaching "T-Z's" on our campus. But, we have virtually no tools, no experience, and no training for reaching the A-T's on our scale.--Alisha Jenkins
Ministry Mode Evangelism
- "I do believe that it is a great way to train our students how to share their faith, and to build convictions about evangelism"--Karl Udy
- "Our students are motivated, doing evangelism, seeing people move closer to Christ and most of them have never done random ministry mode evangelism."--Alisha Jenkins CCC staff at University of Arizona
- "But I
think that an equally important part of evangelism that is often
forgotten is the internal aspect of evangelism and how much Jesus uses
our steps of faith in sanctifying us. For me that is one of the main
reasons why I love min mode evang so much is seeing how much Jesus has
grown my faith and walk through stepping out."--Josh Otto, CCC staff
Natural/Body Mode
- "People who come to faith through natural or body modes are much more likely to stick over the medium term (I have no idea how these things go long term). In our city, we have one campus where every year 70 freshmen (out of an intake of 3000) make decisions for Christ during one particular orientation outreach strategy."--Karl Udy CCC staff
